It’s intoxicating. Watching Angelina Jolie snatch Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston was a big enough deal in 2005. 12 years and six kids later, this couple called it quits with a reported $100 million divorce settlement offer from Brad, Inquisitr reports.
Hollywood’s former golden couple aren’t the only ones on the radar, though. In 2018 alone, we saw the following: Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson got engaged then split. Priyanka Chopra married Nick Jonas. Miley Cyrus married Liam Hemsworth. Of course, Justin Bieber is now #Married to Hailey Baldwin.
Some celeb relationships seem like they’ll 100% go down in history. We’re seeing solid love from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West as they await their fourth child. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are basically relationship goals.
Not all relationships are remembered, though. Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears? Literally, nobody remembers. Katy Perry being married to Russell Brand? Some fans aren’t even aware she was married. The world might be digging newer romances like JLO and A-Rod, but it’s equally forgetting who Jen was with before.
JLO and Diddy. #Throwback. JLO and Ben Affleck. #MemoryJog. This list will be taking a look at two very distinct styles of relationships in Hollywood. Some are ones that will go down in history. The others are more like reminders. Here are 20 celeb couples everyone knows (or knew). Nine will leave their mark, but 11 are just ones the world forgot.
20Kim And Kanye: 100% Going Down In History
It’s Kim and Kanye for crying out loud. The most mismatched couple in Hollywood isn’t far off eight years proving us wrong– their 2012 relationship was made official with that 2014 wedding. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are now parents to North, Saint, and Chicago, but some things will never change.
“He smells rich, I can’t explain it. He smells like what you think a really expensive, Saint Laurent fragrance campaign would be.”
As The Daily Mail reports, Kim has some pretty unique words for Kanye. A mostly misunderstood man, Kanye might get hated on by social media, but his wife adores him. 100% going down in history.
19Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie: The Trainwreck We’ll Never Forget
We’re still getting over this one. Basically, the last decade was a chance for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston fans to get over it– Angelina had taken over (and if you didn’t like it, tough luck). With a romance that started in 2005, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie went on to become Brangelina. Well, until 2017.
Angelina: “Things got bad. I didn’t want to use that word…Things became ‘difficult.'”
Speaking to Vanity Fair after 2017 saw her third marriage collapse, Angelina revealed the strain. Brad is 55. Angelina is 43. It all fell apart, but this relationship isn’t one anyone will forget.
18Britney Spears & Kevin Federline: Already Forgotten
Talk about a throwback. This 2001 “denim duo” outfit will forever remain in the style files of iconic red carpet appearances, although when it comes to the relationship, it’s mostly forgotten. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were once an item.
“Justin begins to get jealous of Britney’s closeness with her choreographer,” Bustle reports in an article covering why this couple split. They were young. They were both major pop faces. Ultimately though, they went their separate ways.
Justin Timberlake is now associated with his #WifeGoals of a woman, Jessica Biel. Britney is dating, but her actual marriages aren’t forgotten. #KevinFederline
17Selena Gomez & The Weeknd: Admit It, You Didn’t Remember
Selena Gomez seems to be flying solo today. In case “Thank U, Next” hasn’t made it clear, being single is pretty in right now. Selena might have been knocked off her most-followed spot by Ariana on IG, but these two ladies now have something in common. #Single
“We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.”
As NME reports, Selena made peace with the split. In 2017, we were used to seeing this couple being papped all over the place. Justin Bieber might still be on our minds as Selena’s ex, but let’s face it, you’d probably forgotten about The Weeknd.
16Kylie Jenner & Travis Scott: It’ll Be The Biggest Wedding In History
Kylie Jenner is making all kinds of headlines right now. Her friendship with Jordyn Woods got a #QuestionMark after Jordyn admitted to Red Table Talk that she had been involved with Khloe’s baby daddy, Tristan Thompson. Kylie is also now the world’s youngest billionaire, BBC reports. Her man? Travis Scott.
“I just gotta sturdy up– I gotta propose in a fire way.”
Travis told Rolling Stone that he will marry Kylie. It’ll be the biggest wedding in history. With Stormi now one (and Kylie pretty much out-doing Kim on the glam front), we’re expecting the wedding of an era. Kylie and Travis forever.
15Kylie & Tyga: #NotSoMuch
2016 feels like a decade ago. For Kylie Jenner, 2016 was a teen period of selfies, fame-climbing, and a relationship with Tyga that most people have forgotten about. Kylie does seem to date rappers, but the Travis Scott overtake has made Tyga history.
As Cosmo reports, Kylie started dating Travis to “make her ex jealous by hanging out with other guys.” As Travis told Rolling Stone though, he knew that it was “something special” with Kylie early on.
Tyga further made headlines recently for “taking credit for Kylie’s success,” as Cosmo also reports. We aren’t too sure about where we stand on that. These two? #MostlyForgotten
14Mila Kunis & Macaulay Culkin: Erased From Our Memories (But So Cute)
We’re obsessed with cute couples. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik? Loving it. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas? Still not done with that wedding. Mila Kunis might now be married to Ashton Kutcher, but earlier days saw her with someone else.
Mila dated Home Alone‘s Macaulay Culkin for eight years before splitting in 2010. As Cosmo reports, Mila takes the blame for the split. She said: “I was a [terrible person] in my 20s and I’ll be the first to admit it.”
They were cute. Very cute. While eight years is basically forever in Hollywood, this relationship did end (and most of us have forgotten it).
13Rihanna & Chris Brown: No-One’s Gonna Forget That End
Chris Brown might have a stellar career, but this guy doesn’t come without his controversies. As 2019 brought fresh rumors of violent behavior from Chris, everyone found themselves thinking back to his 2009 relationship with Rihanna. That too was violent, although Chris did apologize, as The Guardian reports.
“I felt like a monster,” Chris admitted. 2009 won’t be forgotten.
Rihanna and Chris as a couple? We’ve kind of forgotten it. With the pictures of the abuse that Rihanna suffered at the hands of her then-boyfriend though, this relationship will likely remain famous for its sad end. RiRi has moved on, though.
12Beyonce & Jay-Z: Will Forever Be #CrazyInLove
They’re the biggest power couple in music. With Forbes reporting a joint net worth of $1.16 billion, Beyonce and Jay-Z might also be the richest couple in music. 2002 brought us “Crazy In Love,” and it’s like they never looked back.
Beyonce and Jay-Z just wouldn’t feel right without one another. She’s got her power career (and so does he), but something about these two just works together.
Beyonce told Oprah that she and Jay were on the phone for a year and a half before properly dating. Looks like taking it slow can work. It’ll be Bey & Jay forever (we hope).
11Scarlett Johansson & Jared Leto: Do People Even Remember They Dated?
Scarlett Johansson has a way of making headlines. Vanity Fair reports ScarJo’s interview outlining her views on monogamy (she’s not a fan) and those views seem to have set this actress apart from traditional girls, although Scarlett is currently dating Colin Jost.
Not much is known about Scarlett’s brief relationship with Jared Leto, although a string of steamy street pics more than proved that these two were an item.
Early 2004 is when Us Magazine made this relationship official. Scarlett wasn’t yet a Marvel icon, the pixie cut was over a decade away, and let’s face it, the relationship feels what it is– over a decade old. They did reunite at the 2018 Met Gala though, Pop Sugar reports.
10Or That JLO Was Engaged To Ben Affleck?
JLO now comes as total goals with her current beau, A-Rod. With three marriages behind her though, Jen comes with her history. Since you’ve likely forgotten, here’s a reminder. It included an engagement to Ben Affleck.
“We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like: Oh my God. It was just a lot of pressure. I think different time, different thing, who knows what could’ve happened? But there was a genuine love there,”
Nicki Swift quotes Jen saying in 2016 about her split from Affleck. “Bennifer” they may have been for a while, but the moniker didn’t last like “Brangelina” did.
9Jennifer Aniston & Brad Pitt: A Marriage We Still Wish Existed
There’s something about these two. The divorce might have been back in 2005, but Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt will always have a place in our hearts. In 2019, The Daily Mail spotted Brad Pitt arriving at Jennifer’s 50th birthday party– everyone’s wondering if they’ll get back together.
Brad “of course wishes he’d handled the end of their marriage in a more thoughtful manner.”
In 2019, a sourced told Us Weekly that Brad is still reflecting on his marriage and divorce from Jen. Not one that’ll ever be forgotten. While it wasn’t the longest marriage, a golden couple like this one was going to go down in history. They 100% did.
8Because You Forgot Tyga Had A Kid With Blac Chyna
Blac Chyna doesn’t know how to go through them. The 2019 news that Chyna had split from her new boyfriend Kid Buu was particularly hard to break down– barely anyone was aware they were dating.
Chyna is mostly known for her brief engagement and momma status to Rob Kardashian. Rob & Chyna was the short-lived reality show that followed their lives. There was a baby daddy before Rob, though.
Tyga was just 22 when he and Chyna had a child, King Cairo. While Chyna’s daughter, Dream Kardashian, is way more famous, let’s not forget that Tyga also has a kid with this model. Tough, though. We’d kind of already forgotten.
7Because You Forgot Ryan Reynolds Was Married To ScarJo
Picture Ryan Reynolds, and you’re likely seeing two things. #1 That Deadpool costume. #2 Blake Lively. With his marriage to Blake staying front-page news, Ryan is pretty cushioned from the past. Everyone has one, though.
Ryan was married to Scarlett Johansson in 2008. The marriage lasted two years. Not bad for Hollywood, but not great. In 2014, Scarlett told Glamour that her youth lacked the “tools” she needed for a proper relationship.
“That’s not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life,” she added. A little obscure, but then again, so is our memory of this former couple.
6Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson: Impossible To Forget, “Thank U, Next”
Ariana Grande is fronting pretty much everything now. As Rolling Stone announces Ari as the face of Starbucks’ new “Cloud Macchiato,” we’re looking at the most-followed girl on IG, the face of “Thank U, Next,” and a very solid reason behind it. As E! reports:
“I don’t have crushes on people I don’t know, I’m not crushy”—before telling her tour manager: I’m marrying him, 100 percent. I was like: I’m literally marrying him.”
Ariana and Pete Davidson’s engagement might only have lasted a few months, but the 24-day buildup to it was intense. October 2018 saw these two split, but with Thank U, Next, the album, we won’t be forgetting Pete and Ari.
5Kourtney Kardashian & Younes Bendjima: #Forgotten
It’s been tough for Kourtney Kardashian. 2015 is when this mom was last with her baby daddy, Scott Disick, although KUWTK fans are mostly still praying they’ll reunite. In the last year, Kourtney has split from both Luka Sabbat and Younes Bendjima. Everyone noted that both guys were much younger.
“It makes her feel good to have these [attractive], young guys who are interested in her,”
MSN reports. Kourtney is 39. Luka was 21, while Younes was a few years older. Kourt and Younes may have had a steady stretch, but their relationship won’t be one that’ll be going down in history.
4Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise: Couldn’t Be Forgotten If We Tried
Not even overshadowed by Marie Claire‘s estimate of $3 million for Suri Cruise’s wardrobe, this relationship might have ended in 2012, but a part of it is still going. It’s called us talking about it. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were major news for having one of the most high-profile marriages (and divorces) in Hollywood.
As The Daily Mail reported a controlling marriage that extended into the divorce– Katie “cannot date publicly” for five years after the divorce – TomKat stayed at the forefront of our minds.
A Mission Impossible actor seemed a bit tough for a Dawson’s Creek sweetheart, and maybe that was the case. Either way, this marriage gets a #Legendary.
3David & Victoria Beckham: 20 Years Of #RelationshipGoals
It’s nothing short of inspirational. Lasting 20 years in Hollywood is virtually unheard of these days. Samuel L. Jackson might have been married for decades, but when it comes to younger stars, it’s mostly #Splitsville before the year is up.
Victoria Adams became Victoria Beckham nearly 20 years ago. This former Spice Girl and fashionista has four kids (all basically celebs now), and her marriage is going strong.
While W Magazine quoted David saying that marriage is “hard work” in 2018, it looks like the work is paying off. These two are beyond goals, their marriage is totally going down in history, and yes, we’re still gawking at that outfit.
2Brooklyn Beckham & Chloë Grace Moretz: Never Reached Four Years, #Forgotten
Yes, Victoria Beckham’s kids are now A-Listers. Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper are some of the most high-profile kids in Hollywood, although everyone’s got their eye on what appears to be the family’s front-runner, Brooklyn.
Brooklyn dated Chloë Grace Moretz “on-and-off” for around four years, Elle reports. It didn’t end too well when Chloë found Brooklyn’s new girlfriend flaunting his romance on social media.
“Break-ups are hard across the board, but when every verified account on Twitter posts something about me I get tagged,” she said. They were a cute couple, but they are unlikely to be one we’ll remember forever.
1Khloe Kardashian & Tristan Thompson: Er, Busy Re-Writing History? (Might Get Forgotten)
Jordyn Woods has managed to become more talked-about than her Kardashian BFF, Kylie Jenner. 2019 brought the news that Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have finally called it quits, although Jordyn’s Red Table Talk interview maintained that her involvement with Tristan was limited. Khloe took to Twitter:
“Tristan is equally to blame but Tristan is the father of my child. Regardless of what he does to me I won’t do that to my daughter. He has been addressing this situation PRIVATELY. If Tristan were to lie publicly about what conspired, then yes I would address him publicly as well.”
As Elle reports, Khloe is hurting. While this news feels fresh now, we’re wondering: in five years time, will anybody remember these two? We wish Khloe all the best.
